Why is this important?

Hand hygiene is an essential part of the response to COVID-19. It is important to wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after coughing, sneezing or blowing one’s nose.

If you do not have access to soap and water, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends consumers use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol (also referred to as ethanol or ethyl alcohol).

Healthcare personnel can use high-filtration masks (N95, P95, R95, and KN95), surgical masks, and fabric masks with guidance. Healthcare workers can specify under the Additional Information/Needs section: what types of mask(s) they are looking for and would accept, so that partnering organizations close in geographical location can identify and match with them.

We have composed a comprehensive resources page with links to references to provide you with clear definitions and requirements for hand sanitizer and PPE that healthcare personnel can use.

Our goal is solely to build a network to help your organization identify a hospital or clinic in need. As of now, we are not involved with the shipping of any sanitizers or PPE and highly recommend contacting the point of contact to confirm the address. However, you may also ship or deliver to the address listed for the hospital and follow the drop-off instructions that are provided.

We are not serving countries outside the United States at this time. In addition, we are currently focusing on building a network of compounding pharmacies that are making hand sanitizer in California and subsequently other states with the greatest need.

We do not currently have the human or financial capacity to provide this service to other countries, however, we are open to partnering and supporting other chapters who would like to start similar organizations to cater to the needs in their country.
